Right-arm paceman Amshi de Silva picked seven scalps to spearhead Richmond College to a moderate 2-wicket win against St. Joseph’s College in the Singer Schools Under-19 Limited Overs Tournament quarter-final match played at Galle yesterday.

Electing to bat first, the Josephians were given a torrid time by the Richmondites, who played a clinical game overall. Apart from Dilesh Perera, who struck 48, others failed to contribute to the Josephian total, which read as 116 all out inside 40 overs. De Silva grabbed seven wickets, becoming a nightmare for the Joes, as Dilum Sudeera, swept the remaining three wickets.

Richmond in their run-chase, struggled from the beginning as they lost eight wickets on their way to reach the winning post. Bhanuka Manohara top scored with 30 for Richmond as Thaveesha Abishek chipped in with 20. Ashen Daniel picked four wickets for the Joes, but could not prevent Richmond from winning the game and advancing to the semi-final stage of the tournament.
