Matara Thomians, Ginigathena and Agarapathana TS come on top
Grade 4 Girls category toppers were Ginigathhena PV, Hatton
St. Thomas’ College Matara, Ginigathena Vidyalaya and Agarapathana Tamil School came on top of their respective categories at the Nestle Kids’ Athletics Championship 2019 Grade 4 events held at the Bogambara Stadium in Kandy.
St. Thomas’ Matara won the Boy’s Segment while Kottawa Dharmapala Primary School and Dharmaraja College Kandy, followed in at second and third respectively. The Girls’ Segment was won by Ginigathena Vidyalaya as Ankumbura Primary School, Katugastota followed in at second place. Sri Rahula Balika Vidyalaya, Sri Jayawardanepura was placed overall third in this segment.
Grade 4 Boys was topped by St.Thomas' Matara
The Mixed Segment was won by Agarapthana Tamil School, Nuwara Eliya while Albion Tamil School, Nuwara Eliya and Kew Tamil School, Hatton finished at second and third respectively.
A total of 2556 young athletes representing 213 teams participated in the Grade 4 events, which was graced by Thilak Ekanayake, the Provincial Education Director of Central Province as the Chief Guest.
Sri Lanka Schools Kids Athletics Championship is part of Nestle Healthy Kids programme, which teaches school children about improved diets, healthy cooking, hydration, food safety and hygiene. The programme is part of Nestle’s global Nestle for Healthier Kids initiative, which aims at helping 50 million children lead healthier lives by 2030, by offering nutritious products and advice for families on nutrition and exercise.
