Tamil school Principal vacates premises within the school
View(s):The Principal of a leading Tamil school in Bambalapitiya has vacated her premises in the school compound, but controversy remains over the official handing over of the keys to the school.
It is learned that the Principal had handed over the keys to the Security personnel at the school and left without informing the authorities.
The Ministry of Education (MoE) last week issued an eviction order dated March 18, 2019 (ref. No. ED/4/58/18/03/278) signed by MoE Additional Secretary P.M. Salahudeen, to former school principal K. Nagularaja of Ramanathan Hindu Tamil Vidyalayam, to immediately vacate the premises she lived in, following the completion of an inquiry into an allegation of fraud that she had committed, as Principal of the school.
Mrs. Nagularaja had unlawfully constructed a living premises within the school compound, by connecting a few classrooms.
It transpires that Principal Ms. Nagularaja had ignored a previous letter written by the MoE, ref. No. ED/4/58/20/1/19 dated September 18, 2018, to hand over the improvised premises back to the school. – CC
