Children’s movie highlighting the value of education
Children’s film ‘Iskoleta Mang Awa’, the maiden film direction by film writer Prasad Samaratunga, is now being screened at MPI circuit cinemas around the country.
Produced by Sandun Dolamulla, the film stars Edna Sugathapala, Kumara Wanduressa, Roshana Ondaatje,Rajitha Hiran Chamikara, Upul Weerasinghe, Udith Abeyratne, Samanthi Lanerolle, Theja Nadeeshani, Viraj Madhushan, Kusal Weeramanthri, Shaini Rochana Neththikumara and many other child actors and actresses.
The film revolves around a young boy who is destined to end his life on streets but his entire future is changed with the meeting of a generous teacher. It highlights the importance of education and teaches the lesson that one’s only way out of poverty and destitution is a sound education.
Cinematographed by Sumith Kumara, assistant director is Niroshan Wijesinhe and make up is by Rasika Tennakone, art director is Chaminda Vaas, production manager is Sujeewa Rohan and editor and colour grading is handled by Shan Alwis. The musical score of ‘Iskoleta Mang Awa’ is by Udara Samaraweera and playback songs are sung by Kusal Weeraman to lyrics penned by Sanka Samarappuli. Nishshanka Wijeratne is the still photographer of the film.
Prasad has earlier written screenplays and lyrics for songs and has been a cinema journalist for a long time.
The film is now being released at Ritz Borella, Skylite Malabe and many theatres around the country.
