Rupavahini Avurudu from Down south

Celebrating the National New Year, the National Television, Rupavahini will feature a number of programmes including practising of new year customs, cultural events, teledramas, films, new year games and 
many more.
This year Rupavahini will broadcast its live Sinhala and Tamil New Year programmes from Down south in Weerawila and Tissamaharamaya.
On the New Year’s day, April 14, a live telecast from Nuwara Eliya will be aired covering the musical show from ‘Sundara Nuwara Eliya’ programme.
Continuing the new year celebrations, a cycle race and marathon and many other Avurudu Kreeda or New Year games will be telecast from Tissamaharama. From 6 pm onwards the Avurudu Kumariya beauty pageant will be telecast and it will be followed by an evening of music and cultural events.
