From golden ice cream to potato festival; all in Nuwara Eliya
View(s):Nuawara Eliya was abuzz with seasonal activity and our picture (on the left )shows Araliya Green City Hotel in Nuwara Eliya introducing a new “Golden Ice Cream” valued at Rs 5000 to mark the town’s Spring Festival. The ice cream is made from fresh milk obtained from Nuwara Eliya and laced with edible gold imported from Australia. It was introduced at a ceremony presided by Angela Sirisena, wife of Araliya Group Chairman Dudley Sirisena.
Meanwhile the picture on the right shows Grand Hotel in Nuwara Eliya holding its “Potato Festival” on April 16. Sports Minister Harin Fernando and cricketing legend Kumar Sangakkara were the chief guests. A 25 kilo potato pudding was unveiled on the occasion by the hotel’s chefs.
