Aaloka Pooja in memory of Easter Sunday massacre victims
View(s):The Alumni Association of University of Peradeniya Colombo Chapter (AAUPCC) organised an ‘Aaloka Pooja’ on April 28 at the Ganelanda Raja Maha Viharaya, Welipara, Thalawatugoda to invoke blessings on the people of Sri Lanka, wish for speedy recovery of the injured and bestow merit on those who lost their lives at the tragic massacre on Easter Sunday.
Prayers offered in respect of those who lost their lives to attain the supreme bliss of Nirvana or Rest in Peace as appropriate. The Aloka Pooja was conducted by the Most Venerable Saddharma Keerthi Sri Dhammadassi Wimaladhamma Thero, Deputy Sangha Nayake of the Srinadi Sivkorale and chief incumbent of the Ganelanda Raja MahaViharaya, Thalawathugoda.
The Aaloka Pooja was held with the patronage of AAUPCC President Colonel Dr Udula Krishnaratne, Social & Cultural Committee Chairperson Jagath Dahanayake, Engr Chandralal Sooriyaaracchi and other members. Residents in the area were also present during the religious ceremony.
