Mr. Nandana Ekanayake
Sri Lanka’s foremost producer of cement, Siam City Cement (Lanka) Ltd (SCCCL) – INSEE Cement – , has appointed Nandana Ekanayake as the new Chairman of the board of directors. He will also continue in his position as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company.
Other changes to the board are the appointments, effective May 15, of Ms. Anuttara Panpothong and Mark Schmidt as new directors. Aidan Lynam and Rizmy Rishard will continue as directors of the board, according to a company media release.
Paul Hugentobler who was the former Chairman of SCCCL and former directors, Siva Mahasandana, Vanchai Tosomboon and Pongpinit Tejagupta, have stepped down. Commenting on the board changes, Mr. Hugentobler, Chairman of the Board of Directors Siam City Cement (Public) Co. Ltd in Thailand, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Siva Mahasandana, Mr. Vanchai Tosomboon and Mr. Pongpinit Tejagupta for the valuable contribution made over the last two and half years and also congratulate the new Chairman and the Directors.”
Mr. Ekanayake, the new Chairman of INSEE Cement, Sri Lanka, was the Finance Director and Head of Divestment Projects of Siam City Cement (Vietnam) Ltd prior to his appointment as the CEO in Sri Lanka in March 2017 and has considerable experience in mergers, expansions and acquisition projects. He is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Australia.
