Public Finance Dept wins Procurement Innovation & Good Practice 2018
View(s):The General Treasury’s Department of Public Finance, functions as one key Department which facilitates government procurement in the country. Under the guidance of its Director General Priyanga Algama, the Department of Public Finance has achieved the rare feat of winning the 3rd South Asia Procurement Innovation and Good Practice Awards 2018, for the 3rd consecutive year.
The award ceremony was held alongside the 6th South Asia Region Procurement Conference in Thimpu, Bhutan from April 22-24. The 3rd edition of the award ceremony was sponsored by the World Bank and its subsidiary i-net. The awards recognize the innovative thinking and best practices that have gone into formulating Public Procurement measures in member countries.
The country winners for the 2018 Awards have been selected from submissions received from 8 member countries compreising, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The case study submitted by Finance Ministry’s Public Finance Department Director E.A. Rathnaseela, , on addressing the delays in Public Sector Infrastructure Procurement, has been recognized as the award winner for Sri Lanka.
