23 Scholarships for Indian University
View(s):India’s largest single campus with more than 30,000 students has offered Scholarships to Sri Lankan students for this year, through the Ministry of Higher Eduction (MoHE).
MoHE Additional Secretary (Development ) Madhwa Devasurendra said that 8 of the Scholarships would include full tuition fee waiver, while for 15 other Scholarships half the tuition fee will be waived off.
However, all students will have to pay accommodation fees.
Applications for the Scholarships were called earlier and interviews will commence next week.
Among the study programmes on offer are BTech Engineering, (4 years) and 3 years each for programmes of BSc (Hons) Food Technology, BSc Computer Science, BSc (Hons) Microbilogy, BSc (Hons) Biotechnology, BSc (Design- Interior Design & Furniture), BSc Design (Film & TV Production), BSc (Airlines, Tourism & Hospitality), BA (Journalism & Mass Communication) and Bachelor of Physical Education & Sports.
The students were selected for the interviews following a test for them.
Last year the University offered 50 Scholarships, but this year the figure has been reduced.
The University has introduced a system where parents/guardians could keep track of the students’ movement within the campus online, if they are within the campus.
The campus is located in Jalandhar city in the State of Punjab.
The University is recognized by the University Grants Commission and is a member of the Association of Indian Universities.
