Motown magic to bring back those great hits

Original Drifters member Roy G. Hemming brings on stage the sounds of -Motown, in one action packed show in Colombo this Wednesday.
Featuring hits by The Three Degrees, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Stevie Wonder, Billy Paul, Four Tops, Temptations, Marvin Gaye and O’Jays to name a few, the show featuring Roy and his back-up singers organised by DK Promotions promises to be a memorable evening.
A great showman and dynamic singer, best known as the longest serving former member of the legendary group, The Drifters, Roy Hemmings will perform ‘Hits of Motown’ at the Colombo Hilton on June 5 at 7.30 p.m. The show is endorsed by Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.
Roy had worked alongside Drifters founder Johnny Moore for more than 20 years and has entertained audiences around the world with his easy, relaxed style and fabulous voice in a career that spans four decades and includes appearances in several Royal Variety shows.
Roy enjoyed major success when he signed a recording deal with Magnet Records in the mid- 70s with the J.A.L.N. Band, one of the first bands to storm the British charts with the dance record, ‘Disco Music, I Like It’ produced by Pete Waterman.
Roy’s second solo album, ‘All Talked Out’ includes a fine version of The Drifters’ classic, ‘Like Sister and Brother’.
Roy is currently touring with his “Hits of Motown Show” featuring “The Love Supremes”. With their smooth harmonies and slick dance routines; they add a stunning dimension to the shows.
