Parents need not guard schools during school hours- MoE

View(s):

The Ministry of Education (MoE) issued a communiqué to all schools last week that, with immediate effect, parents should not be requested to guard schools during school hours.

This follows several complaints received by the MoE that parents are inconvenienced by schools requesting them to provide security for schools. It has been observed that even pregnant mothers were standing at school gates guarding their children’s schools.

The MoE said the tri-forces deployed in schools were adequate to provide security to schools and that, the parents, in future, need not volunteer to provide security to schools.

Following the Easter Sunday bomb blasts, schools had insisted that parents provide security to the schools, while academic sessions were in progress.
