Shangri-La Hotel reopens on Wednesday
View(s):Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo, badly damaged by the Easter Sunday April 21 attacks, reopened on Wednesday, June 12.
The hotel, one out of three that were attacked in Colombo, was closed for repairs after the blast which killed guests and others. The Cinnamon Grand and the Kingsbury, also attacked by Islamic extremist bombs, were re-opened a few days after the blasts.
“The Shangri-La Group is grateful to the local authorities and the global community for their outpouring of support and messages of commendations received these past seven weeks. We remain deeply appreciative of the selfless service and courageous spirit demonstrated by our colleagues and the Sri Lankan community in the face of such adversity,” the hotel said in an announcement on Monday.
It said from Wednesday onwards, popular dining establishments including Sapphyr Lounge, Capital Bar & Grill and Kaema Sutra will reopen for service. Guests will be able to enjoy room stays and Chi, the Spa from Saturday June 15 onwards.
