Parental security for schools despite MoE ‘press release’ to desist- CTU

The Ceylon Teachers Union (CTU) last week charged that, despite the Ministry of Education (MoE) directive that schools should stop using parents for the security of schools, several schools are continuing with the programme.

CTU General Secretary Joseph Stalin said this was because the schools have not been informed in writing by the MoE to this effect.

He said the MoE has only issued a press release and is talking to schools through the media. Schools which have not got any direct instructions from the MoE, are continuing with the security procedure, which was put in place following the Easter Sunday bombings.

“This has become a joke with the schools not following the MoE’s instructions,” he said.
