Kelaniya University celebrates 60th anniversary
View(s):The 60th anniversary celebration of the University of Kelaniya (UoK) was held on Monday at the UoK’s Dharmaloka Hall.
The programme titled “Vidulakara Punarawalokana” was held under the patronage of the Principal-Director of Vidyalankara Pirivena and UoK Chancellor Ven Dr. Welamitiyawe Dharmakirthi Sri Kusaladhamma Nayaka Thera.
UoK Vice Chancellor Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, and several distinguished invitees addressed the gathering. Before the commencement of the event, flowers were offered to the statue of Ven Sri Dharmaloka Thera The “Vidyanidhani” journal was launched at the event .
The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa on “Vidyalankara Tradition and the UoK”. The celebrations ended with a “Pahan Poojava”, with the participation of the academic, non-academic staff members, undergraduates and alumni of the UoK.
