Paddler Mahith makes Lyceum Gampaha proud
View(s):Mahith Jayasumana, a student of Lyceum International School, Gampaha, a rising star in the field of Table Tennis exhibited vast talent and has made his alma mater and Sri Lanka proud at international outings.
A junior ranked paddler in Under-15 and 18 age categories in Sri Lanka, Mahith finished at the top in the first round of the Set Thailand Junior and Cadet Open (Golden Series) 2019 in the ITTF Junior Circuit in Bangkok, Thailand recently. In a tournament organised and conducted by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), this Under-15 player finished first in his group and was selected for the main draw of 64 players.
Having won the first game in the main draw, this youngster failed to live up to his reputation as he was defeated by North Korean player, Lee Juhyoung 3-0. The Directress of Lyceum International School, Gampaha, Dilmi Rathnayake, school principal Namal Fernando, Director of Sports, Palitha Jayatilleke and coach Lalith Perera praised Jayasumana for his achievements made in the field of Table Tennis so far.
