Peace
Peace is like the backbone of a country. A country never develops without peace among people. We can describe peace in many ways, such as, the cooperation, harmony among people is known as peace. The friendliness generated in the hearts of people is called peace.
We should not limit the peace among people to the word. We can do it practically. We can live with our neighbours, relations, friends and surrounding people peacefully. The word called peace has a deep meaning. If somebody could understand that meaning, they can live cooperatively with others.

We believe the white pigeon as the symbol of peace. Nowadays we cannot see peace among people. Some of our friends try to harm us. Some people of our neighbouring countries try to harm our country. The bomb explosions that happened in recent days is a good example of it. Lacking of peace is a reason to cause such severe damages to the people, to resources, to the country and the whole world.
So finally, I request you all to protect the peace of our country. If not there’ll be an unsuitable society for us as well as our future generations.

The R. M. S. Titanic
The most famous ocean liner in history, the R. M. S. Titanic and the
ill-fated voyage which followed the ship, has sailed across the hearts of almost everyone who knows about the once
ship of dreams.
Built under the assistance of
Harland and Wolff Industrial Company and the Transatlantic Shipping Company, White Star Line, Titanic was the biggest ship around that time and everything about the ship was done in lavish style.
To most, going aboard the Titanic
was as if they were on the verge of living a dream. So April 10, 1912 is notable as it marks the departure of the Titanic from Southampton amidst the cheering of thousands of people who were hoping for a new dawn upon their lives.
Amidst all this happiness, on the
night of April 14, 1912 the Titanic unexpectedly collided with an iceberg.
Not having enough lifeboats, 1500 of the 2207 on board lost their lives. Mournfully, it was 2.20 a. m., when the Titanic headed down to its final resting place.
Though now it’s been 107 years since that fatal accident, Titanic is still alive in the hearts of many and it will always be the ship of dreams.

My best friend

My best friend is
Sauni. I met her in school. We study in the same grade. She is a kind and lovely friend. Her favourite thing is reading. Sometimes she helps me in my studies.
We visit each other in the evening.
We play every time. We speak over the phone as well. We help each other like we are sisters. Her father is a
doctor so she goes far away sometimes. Then I miss her so much.
She is a good friend.

Christian College, Kotte. His profession was a teacher of Art and Music. He was a musician and composer. He composed the National Anthem of Sri Lanka.
Ananda Samarakoon founded a musical tradition of our own. He is considered as the father of artistic Sri Lankan music. He composed many songs like ‘Siri Saru Saara Ketha’, ‘Akke Akke Ara Balannako’, ‘Asay Madura Jeewanaya Geetha’.
He was also a gifted painter.
The theme of the song ‘Endada

a young village boy and girl. It became
a success and he followed it with a string of successful songs in the early to mid 1940s. This period is considered his golden age.

Birds
There are many birds in my home garden. There are crows, parrots, sparrows, mynahs and humming birds. They eat fruits, seeds and dead animals. Birds have a beak, two legs, two wings and feathers. Birds make their own nests to live in, on trees.
Some birds cannot fly. They are ostriches, penguins and kiwis. Some birds like the crow, parrot and eagle can fly. The bird’s beak helps them to do many things. It helps them to find their food, make their nests and also to
protect them from enemies.
The bird I like the most is the cuckoo bird who sings early in the morning bringing the happy news of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year in the month of April.

If I were a butterfly
If I were a butterfly, I would fly from flower to flower and suck nectar and fly in the garden with all my friends. I would stay in the sky and talk with other butterflies. I would fly to many
different places like the beach, playgrounds, Kandy and other fun places. If I were a butterfly
I would wish for bright red and black wings.
I would have to be very careful if I were a
butterfly because if little children touch my wings I won’t be able to fly. Yes, of course you all know what my favourite thing to do if I were
a butterfly is, yes, flying in the air.
I also wish that I could be a butterfly too. I like flying in the air. And if I were a butterfly I would play all day long.
