SA Emerging beat SL Emerging by 3 wickets
View(s):South Africa Emerging Team edged-out the touring Sri Lanka Emerging Team by three wickets in their Tri Series Limited Over Cricket Tournament match played in Pretoria yesterday.
After restricting Sri Lanka Emerging to 247 for seven in 50 overs, the home side reached their target with eight overs to spare. Opener Matthew Breetzke provided South Africa Emerging a flying start by compiling a sparkling half century which included five boundaries.
However, Sri Lanka Emerging kept their hopes alive by capturing wickets at regular intervals through Amila Aponso, Charith Asalanka, Chamika Karunaratne and Lahiru Madushanka. Kyle Simmonds then added the finishing touches for the home side by smashing an unbeaten 44 from just 26 balls with the aid of three sixes and two boundaries.
Earlier, Sri Lanka Emerging recovered from losing a wicket in the second ball of the innings to post a competitive 247 for seven thanks to an unbeaten half century from Ramesh Mendis who hoisted one six and struck three boundaries.
