‘We Are One’: Reconciliation via Music
View(s):‘The Thomian Society’, which has brought together the Alumni of the four schools of S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia, Gurutalawa, Bandarawela and the Preparatory School, Kollupitiya brings ‘We are One’, a presentation of reconciliation of music in the current context, designed to promote peace, harmony and fellowship. Artistes from the field of music, who have risen to the occasion to uphold national unity has been handpicked for the occasion. The uniqueness in this presentation is that the artistes will be performing their own creations.
‘WE ARE ONE’ will be held on Sunday, the 4th of August 2019 at the Main Ballroom of the Galadari Hotel and would include orchestral music provided by the renowned ‘Friends in Harmony’ with guest appearances by Rajiv Sebastian and Ishaq Baig, a brief speech by Chevaan Daniel with the addition of a talk show by popular entertainer, Sunil Perera.
Guests would be served with dinner and refreshments during the event, which will commence at 7.00 pm. Many more plans to please the audience are in the pipe line.
‘Many have already been moved to hold hands and expressed a willingness to sync in with this empathetic contextualisation and, additionally, in the social context, to be partners in providing scholarships to students with academic potential who are economically constrained’ said Tusitha de Alwis of the Thomian Society.
