IChemC Graduate Chemist gets eleven fully funded offers to pursue a PhD in the USA

Kanchana Chandrakanthan, a Graduate Chemist from the 35th G.I.C Batch of I.Chem.C emerged as the Shireen Jayasuriya Gold Medalist for the year 2018. She applied for graduate studies in the USA and has secured fully funded offers from all the universities she applied to; namely- Arizona State University, Louisiana State University, Kansas State University, Washington State University, George Washington University, Georgetown University, Wayne state university, Miami University, University of Cincinnati, University of Kentucky and University of Rhode Island. Thus she has made a mark as the first Graduate Chemist who has been offered the highest number of fully funded scholarships to date at the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon.
She has selected Arizona State University (ASU) to pursue her PhD program in Chemistry and is the only student of Sri Lankan nationality to have been selected for the fall intake-2019 Chemistry and Biochemistry PhD program at ASU. The College of Chemical Sciences extends warm wishes and best regards to Kanchana for a successful graduate life ahead.
For the fourth year in a row (2016 – 2019) , Arizona State University has been named the most innovative school, ranking No.1 in the USA ahead of Stanford and MIT (According to the U.S & World report) recognizing the university’s groundbreaking research, research output and partnerships. It has also been currently ranked No.52 in Chemistry according to the U.S & World Report.
