View(s):My first day at school
Life is full of new events. For a child, going to school for the first time is facing
a new challenge. I also faced it.
A school is a place with a proper learning environment. Furthermore it is a training ground for all.
In 2009, at the age of four, I was admitted to JMC International College, Maharagama as an LKG student. There were only three teachers in my school then. They were
Ms. Pradeepa, Ms. Melani and Ms. Ayesha. At that time our principal was Mr. Keerthi Jayasekara.
My parents took me to school for the first time. I was excited, scared and a little bit nervous. I cried also. The teacher introduced me as a new student to the class and showed me my seat.
My class teachers were very gentle. They encouraged me and treated me kindly.
I did some play activities and sang songs.
I will never forget this wonderful day, my first day of school.

Gardening as a hobby
Gardening is a very interesting hobby. Gardening means planting plants and cleaning the earth. How would you feel if you had vegetables and fruits out of your own garden? It would taste much nicer than the fruits and vegetables you buy for an expensive price from the shops.
When we do gardening, we get exercise. It is good to do gardening because it helps the earth and growing plants makes the air fresh for human beings and animals to live.
It is a very nice hobby and I like it so much.

Water pollution
Water is one of the most valuable resources on Earth. Three-quarters of the Earth’s surface is covered with water and only 2% of that is consumable for drinking. However, despite the precious nature of this resource, we humans have not considered on even bothering to conserve or protect it.
Water pollution is a serious problem that is being faced by many countries especially developing countries.
The root cause of water pollution is probably the improper disposal of sewage and waste effluent from factories, homes and other industries. Sewage and effluent cause the water to become acidic, thus making it inhospitable for marine and aquatic
life such as fish and water plants.
The acidity is due to the nitrate ions, thereby polluting waterways and rivers.
Farming and agriculture often involve the use of nitrogenous fertilizers in order to increase crops. However when it rains, this layer of soil gets washed into nearby rivers. Algae then grows on the surface of these waterways and uses up the dissolved oxygen in the water. This is called eutrophication and it results in fish suffocating and the lack of light for plants and other aquatic life.
Oil spills, garbage disposal and nuclear waste dispersion are other ways of how water can be polluted.
Although the levels of pollution are increasing at an alarming rate, authorities and higher powers are taking insufficient measures to contain and restrict it. If no action is taken to control this, we might face a Water Armageddon or a Hydro-Armageddon!
