National conference on peace, harmony and coexistence on Tuesday
View(s):The National Conference on Peace, Harmony and Coexistence, organised by the Western Province Governor’s office, will be held on Tuesday, July 30 at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre. The event will be held from 4 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.
President Maithripala Sirisena will be Chief Guest while Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will be the Guest of Honour. Speaker Karu Jayasuriya, Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa and several Government Ministers will also be in attendence. They will be joined by religious leaders, intellectuals and scholars involved in promoting world peace and coexistence, the Governor’s Office stated.
Dr Mohammad Bin Abdulkarim Alissa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League, will be attending the conference as a Special Guest.
The conference has been organized to promote interfaith values of peace, harmony and co-existence as well as to convey the message to the world that people of Sri Lanka live in harmony and reject all forms of extremism, the Governor’s Office added.
