Bribery Commission aims to reduce school admission bribery

The Bribery Commission aims to reduce bribery and corruption for school admissions in national schools.

As part of the programme, they are briefing Principals of National schools, past pupil association representatives and School Development Society members on the programme, in batches, from August 1-15, in Colombo, as they make up part of the interview board for Grade 1 admissions.

In a related development the Commission will also create an awareness programme among parents and teachers of national as well as other schools, on preventing bribery for school admissions.

Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said the programme has been arranged on the request of the Ministry, in view of complaints on bribery for school admissions.

Grade 1 admission interviews are due to commence shortly.
