Huawei has an effective corporate governance system. The employees who have the shares in the company elect 115 representatives for the Representatives’ Commission where the Chairman of the Board and the remaining 16 board directors are been elected. The Board of Directors elects four deputy chairs and three executive directors. The position of the chairman rotates among these three deputy chairs and the important decisions about the company are made by them,and it is marked as the highest decision-making body of the HuaweiCompany.
Huawei mainly works with two main parts of benefactors; internal and external. The internal sector consists of the employees who also own the shares of the company. The external sector consists of customers, who are kept at the heart of the company.
Research and development
When paying attention to the process of the company the main attention is paid to the research sector, where more time, money and energy had been invested on. According to the statistics in 2017 the company has invested US$13.8 billion for research and development. Having over 188,000 employees, the company occupies around 76,000 of them which is about 40% in Research & Development which has established 21 institutes around the world. Huawei Company also opened the Ox Horn Campus in 2010 as a centre for research and development.
How did Huawei begin?
In Chinese the word ‘Hua’ in means China while ‘wei’ means achievement and the name HUAWEI literary translates as “China be achieving”. It can be seen that Huawei certainly achieved the world for China.
Huawei is a Chinese telecommunication company which mainly focuses on manufacturing smart phones. The company started off in the 1980s when the government wanted to give some concentration towards developing the telecommunication system. The company started off by catering to the fundamental need of creating telephone exchanging switches. The company gradually started to grow into a massive tree.
In 1987 the Huawei Company was found by RenZhengfei, and expanded its reach out of China into the world. Though the company went on for a few years its first success came in 1993 when it launched the C&C08 controlled programme telephone switch which was the best at during the time. The first concentrated rural market gradually shifted to the mainstream market.
By 2018 it has achieved a higher rank in the global telecommunication rankings. One of its greatest successes came when Huawei overtook the apple company in the rankings by becoming the second largest telecommunication manufacturer, just after Samsung mobiles and achieved annual revenue of US$108.5 billion. The company was greatly affected by the trade wars that had been going on between China and the USA. Even after the many threats, restrictions and deprivations the company managed to maintain its stability.
Where does Huawei stand at present?
Huawei became the talk of the town between May and July of this year. The company was accused of providing goods and services to Iran without the proper licentiates. It has been in discussion since the end of 2018 due to the US ban that was implemented on them, and it came into discussion when Huawei filed a lawsuit against them for not giving a chance for proper rebuttal.
While operating in 170 countries and regions Huawei has provided employment for about 188,000 employees. And at present it serves more than three billion people around the world.
At the end of 2018, Huawei Company sold 200 million smartphones. By satisfying the consumer demand for smartphones for an affordable price has helped to achieve a profit of $52 billion in 2018.
Huawei is headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong, Chinaand currently market their products all around the world. It caters to the needs of telecom equipments, networking equipments and consumer electronics and as per 2018 Huawei’s net profit of $8.7 billion.
Though the company went through certain hardships with the USA banning Huawei, many other companies including Google stopped their connections altogether so they had to move on to the plan B. And this was when Huawei launched their own operating system, which was developed by them through the years in foreseeing the threats that they would encounter.
Soon after the ban that was implemented on them, Huawei brought the party to Dubai without choosing the usual places. They launched the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro on the BurjKhalifa tower with a picturesque LED light show.
