Cambridge International June 2019 exam results: Sri Lankan schools make a record number of exam entries for Cambridge qualifications

The popularity of Cambridge International qualifications continues to grow around the world, with record numbers of Cambridge exams entries made in many countries this year, including Sri Lanka.

Cambridge International released the results of its June 2019 exam series globally, revealing that overall exam entries in 2018/19 have risen by 4% internationally and by 1% in Sri Lanka.

In Sri Lanka, Cambridge International AS & A Level entries in the June series grew by 8%, and the most popular subjects were Maths, Physics and Chemistry. There was an increase in the number of Cambridge O Level entries for the June 2019 series in Sri Lanka too – the most popular subjects were English, Maths and Computer Science.

The number of schools teaching Cambridge International programmes grew 6% internationally in 2018/19, while entries for Cambridge International AS & A Level qualifications grew by 7% globally.

The number of younger students studying Cambridge programmes also continues to rise globally. Entries for Cambridge Primary Checkpoint tests grew by 10%, while Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests saw a 5% increase.

Satyajit Sarkar, Acting Regional Director, South Asia Cambridge International, said: ‘In Sri Lanka, people are familiar with the Cambridge O Level and Cambridge International AS & A Level examinations and we are seeing an increase in the number of students studying Cambridge IGCSE as well.

‘Sri Lankan parents and students are responding positively to the choice of subjects that Cambridge International offers, as well as our approaches to learning.

‘I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the students on their results today and to thank all of their teachers and parents for their relentless support.’
