Rs 10m Digital Library for Batticaloa Public Library
View(s):A Digital Library set up at the Batticaloa Public Library, at a cost of Rs 10 million, was declared open this week by Digital Infrastructure & Information Technology Minister Ajith P.Perera, with Batticaloa Mayor Thiyagaraja Sarvanabhawan and TNA Parliamentarians in attendance.
The National Library & Documentation Services Board, along with the Information & Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) of Sri Lanka, initiated the programme.
This is the 2nd Digital Library in the country, after the one at the National Library opened earlier this year..
They will also have access to the National Library archives using this facility.
They will be able to obtain information of the district Development activities.
TNA Parliamentarians G. Srinesan and S. Yogesweran, Deputy Mayor K. Sathiyaseelan, Batticaloa Municipal Councilor K. Cithravel, Senior ICTA Consultant Indika De Zoysa, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Infrastructure & Information Technology Waruna Danapala, Deputy Commissioner N.Thananseyan and Councillors were present.
