Imshal Ziard, the captain of Matale International School (MIS) Under-15 cricket team, excelled as an all rounder and piloted his team to enter the second round of the ongoing SLSCA Under-15 Division III Cricket Tournament 2019 with a win and a no decision from the two group matches played in the preliminary round.
MIS posted a massive 214-run first innings win over St. Thomas’ College Matale ‘B’ side and then drew with Hindu College, Matale. Showing plenty of promise Imshal was outstanding as an all rounder with a tally of 316 runs, which included an unbeaten double ton (200) against St. Thomas’ ‘B’ and an elegant 116 runs against Hindu College.
As a medium pacie Imshal has captured 11 wickets conceding 85 runs and his 8 for 27 against St. Thomas’ Matale being the best figure, to shine as the highest wicket-taker as well as the highest run getter for his team.
Imshal was a member of the Under-13 Matale District Cricket team last year and he was adjudged as the best player in the Inter-International School 6-a-side Cricket Tournament held in 2018.
