Some of the past Sri Lankan Cricketers who played without earning from cricket, knew the hard way to reach the top. We who played cricket in that era never got any inducement to continue cricket, even from our club or employer or administration.
It is for this this reason, (better late than never), that the present cricket administration had decided to help some former Sri Lankan Cricketers in their old age for their Health Care and medical needs, by paying a small monthly pension. This is appreciated by the recipients who are getting this monthly pension. When this type of appreciation is there among the SLC management the cricketing public will welcome it.
I also suggest that a fitting farewell should be given to those who did not receive one on the cricket field. I am sure cricket Administration will earn lot of respect from the public if a good farewell be given to those who deserve it.
Some suggestions being for Cricket Administration to show some videos of these players in action and for those players to give a talk/speech on cricket and the way to come up in cricket.
Cricket is a multi-disciplinary sport and those who have led the way, well deserve the same honour and is inherent in present day cricket which has followed and bloomed as a result of the dedication of those who led the way in Sri Lankan Cricket
