School Evaluation programme to improve Education standards- MoE
View(s):The Ministry of Education (MoE) has devised a school evaluation programme to improve the standard of Education.
The evaluation was conducted through a school inspection service, according to MoE’s 2018 Annual Report.
As part of the programme the MoE conducted capacity development programmes for Deputy Principals of schools, which had an Education Quality Index less than 50% on evaluation.
Zonal and Provincial officers who participate in school external evaluation and its reporting, also participated in the programmes.
The MoE also made arrangements to evaluate best practices of schools and to introduce them into the school system. They also conducted 10 Workshops on coducting researches on the quality of Education.
The MoE has also prepared evaluation guidelines for National Colleges of Education and Zonal Education offices. In addition, the MoE has also had made arrangements to introduce a handbook for Principals and to prepare a competency framework for teachers.
Overseas training opportunities were provided to 35 school evaluators’ and 20 principals and teachers under the “Guru Prathiba Prabah” programme.
The MoE is to implement new functions such as introduction of model teacher evaluation video pictures in relation to the field of learning, teaching and evaluation preparation competencies for officers in the Teacher Educators’ service, formulation of standards for Provincial Education officers and the implementation of Education inspection services.
