AIDEX 2019- Sports Festival of the Differently-abled on Sept.8
View(s):The Rifle Green at Sri Lanka Air Force Headquarters will be the center of attraction, when AIDEX 2019, the annual amputees, who use Jaipur Limbs, takes place on Sunday, September 8. This event is open to the public free of charge.
The 30th edition of this festival is very much looked forward to by both participants and the organisers, the Colombo Friend-in-Need Society which will be celebrating its 188th Anniversary. Over 400 participants are expected to take part in this annual event, along with members of the armed forces who lost their limbs during the ‘Civil War’, and civilians who have lost their limbs.
The events will be worked off from 9 am. Men’s and Women’s Bicycle races will also be held this year too. At the conclusion of the Bicycle races, 64 Track & Field events will be worked off. This will include 100, 200 and 400 metre races, Putt Shot, Long Jump, Discuss Throw and Archery.
Many Mercantile establishments and volunteer organisations have come forward, as in previous years, in contributing in various ways to see that this event will be a success.
The public are cordially invited to spend their Sunday with the differently abled citizens, to encourage them to participate in such activities and to lead non-dependent lives with dignity.
