Horizon Campus who had signed an MoU with the University of Moratuwa, who offers the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) program of University of Moratuwa which is an approved programme by the University Grants commission (UGC) has now made this degree available at their study centers in   Kandy and Kalutara.

The degree comprising of six semesters, conducted over a period  of three years  is open to G.C.E.(A.L.) qualified students from any stream.

Designed to train students with a range of IT disciplines, allowing them to lead and become sought after professionals in the IT industry, the subject areas of the program include System Security, Visual Application Programming, Web Design, Mobile Application Development, Human Computer Interaction, Artificial Intelligence, IT Project Management and Data Mining, among other. Students will also gain the critical thinking and management skills needed to work with new technologies.

During the programme period, Horizon Campus will conduct classes in accordance with the quality standards defined by the University of Moratuwa. Continuous assessments and evaluations to map the progress of the student along with various assessment techniques such as Assignments, Quizzes, Discussion Forums and Practical Examinations, will be a part of this Degree Programme.

On successful completion, students will be able to, analyze, design, implement, evaluate solutions and demonstrate an understanding of the systems context in which software is developed and operated including economic, social, historical, sustainability and ethical aspects.

They will understand the foundations of computer science including programming, algorithms, architectures and data structures and be able to communicate complex concepts effectively with diverse audiences using a range of modalities and work effectively within team environment. Students will further benefit from the strong industry connection of Horizon campus that include multinational companies, leading blue chips and innovative startups.

In addition, diploma holders SLIATE HND IT can also follow this degree  at any of Horizon’s regional centres.
