ICBT Campus became the champions of the most important Inter-Campus sporting tournaments held in Sri Lanka. ICBT Campus emerged champions at the Inter-Campus Rugby 7s Tournament, recently, after clinching the Red Bull Campus Cricket Tournament.

The ICBT Campus Cricket team won the Red Bull Campus Cricket Tournament 2019, thus qualifying for the Red Bull Campus Cricket World Finals to be held in Dubai during October and November, representing Sri Lanka.

This is the third time ICBT campus team has represented Sri Lanka at the world finals, previously in India and in London at the Oval. All major Test playing countries will be represented at the Red Bull Campus Cricket World Finals.

ICBT also won the Inter-Campus Rugby 7s 2019 tournament was held for the second successive year at the Royal College Sports Complex. Ten teams representing Sri Lankan institutes took part in the tournament with top school, club and national players.

Hosts ICBT Colombo thrashed Mercury Institute 38-0 in a one-sided game to clinch the Cup Championship.

On their way to the Cup final, ICBT Colombo easily pushed aside ICBT Kandy 17-10 in the Cup/Plate semi-final after recording comprehensive wins against SLIM (52-0), Mercury Institute (33-5), NSBM ‘B’ (43-0) and ANC (45-0). ICBT Kandy annexed the Plate Championship defeating NSBM ‘A’ 26-19 while Gen. Sir John Kotalawala Defence University thrashed SLIM 42-0 to bag the Bowl Championship.

The Most Valuable Player of the Tournament was Umesh Madushan of ICBT Campus and the Most Outstanding Player of the Cup Final was Harith Bandara of ICBT Colombo.

An encouraging factor of the tournament this year was the participation of a large number of school leavers and several top ‘A’ Division club players in the competition, which attracted 10 University teams.

Besides the winners ICBT Colombo, Mercury Institute, ANC Foundation, SLIM, NSBM ‘A’ and ‘B’, Royal Institute, KDU, Saegis Campus and ICBT Kandy participated. The tournament was organised and conducted by ICBT with the collaboration of Sri Lanka Rugby.
