Ground-breaking shift from conventional HR practices at 46th ARTDO World Conference

The Asian Regional Training & Development Organisation (ARTDO) will hold its 46th annual conference, for the first time in Sri Lanka from September 23 to 25.

This renowned annual conference recognised by HR gurus and leaders in the human resource and talent development industry has been held in many countries such as Australia, Egypt, Malaysia, India, the Philippines, Indonesia, the UAE, Macau and Taiwan among others.

A media release from the organisers said that this year’s theme is “Shaping a sustainable future” which will cover many areas such as women empowerment and women’s role in nurturing the future workforce, governance for transitions maintaining a sustainable future in uncertain environments, developing a new-gen Z future workforce, talent assessment through artificial intelligence, AI, IoT and STEM in social enterprises, technology management and sustainable dividends, sales transformation, seasons of life’s transitions/reinventing yourself to meet future challenges, emotional excellence – knowing self and others and applied emotional well-being.

There are 24 speakers from 13 different countries contributing their wealth of knowledge and sharing their experiences to support Sri Lankan corporates, state institutions, NGOs and individuals enhance their skills as corporate leaders.

Speakers at the conference include Eric de Graaf, a director in the central government of the Netherlands, who will speak on “Governance for Transitions: How the Government can make a change.” Mr. de Graaf has been a member of the government-wide board of HRM-directors and is currently Director Governance and Innovation of the Ministry of Defence.

Shehan Wijetilleke from Sydney, Australia who has 30 years’ experience in demand creation around advisory services, will speak on “Leadership styles in the digital age” which outlines today’s digital technologies — Smartphones, Social, Internet of Things, Data Analytics.

He has worked for IBM, Telstra, Huthwaite in senior executive roles and now operates Laurus Mark consulting firm.

Also from Australia is John Philips, Executive Director of KESAB Australia, who will speak on “Sustainability Practices in the Environment” which will focus on the scope of sustainability in the context of understanding what it means to stakeholders; government, corporate and community.

He has identified social enterprise opportunities with practical understanding and experience in remote aboriginal communities and India.

The facilitator Wilson Cheah is from Vietnam. He has gained valuable and practical work experience in financial literacy and emotional excellence and has held key leadership positions in banks such as DBS Bank, Hong Leong Bank, Public Bank and RHB Bank Bhd (Vietnam and Myanmar).

Another speaker is Dr. Tanvi Gautam, a global keynote speaker, Author, etc who will discuss the “Narrative and Business Storytelling for Digital Transformation”.
