An evening of choral music at the Cathedral
View(s):Taking centrestage at the Cathedral of Christ the Living Saviour next Saturday, September 21 at 7 p.m. will be the Cathedral Choir joined by the ConCord Choir from Melbourne, Australia in an evening of choral music. They will be joined by the choirs of Wesley College, Colombo and Trinity College, Kandy.
The evening includes many well-loved hymns such as ‘When I survey the Wondrous Cross’, ‘Be Thou My Vision’ and ‘Open the Eyes of My Heart Lord’.
The ConCord Choir started off as the “Harmony Choir”, performing at the Harmony Day celebrations, an event which aimed to bring Sri Lankans living in Melbourne together. Renamed “ConCord Choir” in 2015, they made their debut with concerts in both Melbourne and Sydney performing genres as diverse as Broadway, classical, pop, and traditional Sri Lankan music.
This group of singers of different professions, ages, ethnicities and faiths is conducted by Rushan Hewawasam, an old boy of Wesley College.
Entrance is by programme priced at Rs 1,000, available at the Cathedral Office and the Commons Coffee House.
