Scholarships to A/L students with Special, Extracurricular Skills- MoE
View(s):The Ministry of Education (MoE) is to offer Scholarships to Advanced Level students with special skills in innovation, achievements in aesthetic studies and sports. Under this plan, some 1,000 students will be selected for the Scholarship, where they would receive Rs 1,000 per month for 20 months.
The students should have shown special skills and achievements throughout a long duration and their international achievements, extra-curricular activities, performance in their studies including subjects such as Languages, Science, Maths and Information Technology will be considered along with their O/L and A/L results, with 60% of the marks on their talents and achievements, while the other 40% will be on general performance.
Application will be called at school level and decided at Zonal and Provincial level. The first set of Scholarships will be presented by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe next week. - DW
