Uni. Librarians Assoc. of SL held its 10th International Research Conference
View(s):The University Librarians Association of Sri Lanka held its 10th International Research Conference, themed “Reinvigorating Libraries: Smart Responsiveness for Sustainability”, at the Mount Lavinia Hotel, recently, with South African High Commissioner for Sri Lanka, Robina P. Marks as Chief Guest.
The Keynote speeches was delivered by Senior Professor of English, University of Kelaniya, Prof Maithree Wickremesinghe, and Senior Professor of Physiology, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Prof Susirith Mendis.
An interesting and comprehensive dialogue panel round table led by Dr. (Mrs) Pradeepa Wijetunge, where several issues in reinvigorating libraries in the digital era, was held. Several Research papers were presented and discussed among an intellectual group of Researchers and Academicians.
The retired University Chief Librarians Mrs. Sumana C. Jayasuriya, Dr. (Mrs.) Wathmanel Seneviretne and Mr. L.A. Jayatissa served as Session Chairs. Mr. P. Vidhanapathirana, Mr. Harrison Perera and Mrs. T. Arulnandhy led the Valedictory Session.
Honouring the Universities’ Retired Chief Librarians and awards for the ‘Best Paper’ and the ‘Best Presenter’ were also held.
The President of the University Librarians Association of Sri Lanka, Dr. Chaminda C. Jayasundara said this conference was aimed at Researchers eager to explore the field of Library & Information Science, to boost their prospects and perspectives in providing, maintaining and accessing information.
