Golden Jubilee of Peradeniya University 1969 Batch
View(s):The Batch which entered University of Peradeniya (UoP) in 1969, will mark its Golden Jubilee with a series of celebrations at the UoP premises on October 12, from 8 am to 4 pm, states the Peradeniya University Association 1969 batch.
The ceremony will commence with the unveiling of a statue of legendary Prof. Ediriweera Sarachchandra at the Sarachchandra Museum located inside the UoP library. UoP Vice Chancellor Prof Upul Dissanayake will be the Chief Guest, while the Sarachachandra family, Deans of all Faculties and Heads of Departments will add colour to the event. Members of P 69+ batch and their families will make the event lively.
The Memorial lecture will be delivered by Prof. K.N.O. Dharmadasa at the Senate room, which will be followed by other speeches.
The Golden Jubilee souvenir will be launched at the ceremony.
Annual General Meeting of the P69+ Brotherhood Association will be held thereafter.
All guests and members will arrive at the Royal Ball Room of the Peradeniya Rest House for fellowship, entertainment and lunch. Veteran artiste Nissanka Diddeniya and fellow artistes will take every one down memory lane of ‘Maname’ and ‘Sinhabahu’, followed by musical entertainment. With a sumptuous lunch served by Peradeniya Rest House, the celebrations will come to an end.
