MATRIX Institute of Information Technology (Pvt) Ltd, commenced its journey in the year 2006 and has now been serving the nation for the past 14 years.

MATRIX confirmed their quality of service again at the BCS convocation 2018, when Ms. Krishanni Prabagar grabbed the Sri Lankan Prize for the Certificate in IT and Mr. Bojitha Piyathilake won the Sri Lankan and World Prize for the BCS PGD level in IT and ensured MATRIX as the only institute in Sri Lanka to win any awards at the local convocation and the only institute to win the highest awards for two consecutive years in the World. Bojitha started BCS just after he finished his G.C.E O/L and a student from Vidura College and Ananda College.

MATRIX, from its inception has been educating students for the BCS, the chartered institute of IT, higher educational qualifications (HEQ) examinations. BCS is one of the oldest professional bodies in ICT, which was established in year 1957 and educates students in many countries.
BCS professional qualification consist of three levels, namely certificate in IT, Diploma in IT and PGD in IT. One of the biggest advantages of BCS professional examinations is that anyone can start the program at any age and there is no entry qualifications, but however MATRIX would enroll students with care to ensure highest student achievement. “its not only about numbers of students you teach but how well you teach every single student”, stated the Dr. Viraj Pinto Jayawardena.

MATRIX, also offers the Bachelor of information technology (BIT) of the University of Colombo school of computing (UCSC), which is the first ever IT external degree in Sri Lanka. BIT started in year 1998/99 under the patronage of late Prof. V.K. Samaranayake and now is one of the leading IT Degrees in Sri Lanka. MATRIX has also produced many top candidates for BIT and recently Ms. Manushi Wijepala, now working for London stock exchange (formally known as Millennium IT) became the top candidate at the 2015/16 BIT convocation by obtaining a GPA of 3.93 and was also awarded prof. V.K Samanayake Gold medal for becoming the top candidate.
BIT degree takes three years to complete and further is considered as one of the best recognised entry qualifications to top IT companies in Sri Lanka and even overseas. The BIT degree can also be completed for a total cost of LKR 350,000 with MATRIX and a candidate can attend classes on weekends at their convenience.
The BIT Degree of the University of Colombo, has entry requirements and therefore students without G.C.E A/L or equivalent cannot commence the programme. In order to cater for this need the University of Colombo offers the Foundation in Information Technology (FIT), which has three subjects, namely ICT, English and Mathematics that also allow candidates to start BIT Degree after the successful completion of FIT of the UCSC with a C passes for Mathematics and English at the G.C.E O/L exams.
