Susitha Wadana Samithiya appeals for assistance to help the less fortunate
View(s):Susitha Wadana Samithiya (SWS) of Hedala, an inter-racial, inter-religious and non-political Social Service Organisation, which conducts Educational courses to assist less privileged children, has inaugurated a Scholarship fund to help deserving children.
At the Annual General Meeting of the SWS on October 27, at 5.30 p.m. the Chief Guest Justice Yasantha Kodagoda, PC, President Court of Appeal will hand over the sponsorship and Certificates to the students of Computer and English classes.
The SWS has appealed to those willing to contribute to the success of their programme, to contribute Rs 2,000 per month for one year, for a student unable to continue his/her studies due to lack of funds.
The SWS said that, currently, they have only 15 computers to conduct Computer classes for 75 students, and require more computers to conduct the programme.
The SWS, founded in 1964, conducts Computer, English Language, Spoken English and Sewing classes, in addition to a Care project for needy Disable/Special Needs Children/Scholarship Fund
They also have a Vocational Training Institute and Scholarship scheme for poor children, and an interest free loans scheme for self employment.
The Scholarship fund is to help children who have qualified for the A/L,or those who have passed A/L and have been selected to the University/Higher studies, or for those who are unemployed and need to undergo Vocational Training, but unable to continue due to financial difficulties.
