The Mighty Mini Club of Sri Lanka celebrated International Mini Moke Day on September 29 with a Colombo Drive and display of Mokes and Minis on the day.

There were a very colourful array of Mokes and Minis numbering 38 in total which gathered at around 2.00pm at the car park of the Rawathawatta (Moratuwa) Cargills Food City Car Park in celebration of this event. By 2.30pm all the Mokes and Minis with club members and their friends in attendance set off in a convoy via Galle Road towards Colombo. At Wellawatte, the cars deviated to Marine Drive. The cars then stopped by the sea-side on Marine Drive in Bambalapitiya for photography, Facebook Live Video Updates and fellowship.

The cars then proceeded along Marine Drive, cut across to Galle Road again at Collpetty, and proceeded towards Green Path, Colombo 7. On the day on Green Path, the ‘Street Motor Show’ was in progress; and special arrangements had been made to welcome the Mokes and Minis to the Show. The cars drove in procession on the center of the road and parked as arranged with all other stalls of the show on either side. The cars then remained there at the Street Motor Show for over one hour, to the delight of visitors who were seen taking selfies and photos along with the cars.

The Mighty Mini Club of Sri Lanka was founded in 1995 by a small group of Mini enthusiasts, to promote the ownership and enjoyment of these diminutive world famous cars. The Club has now grown to over 600 members, and each year organizes several events which are open to the public that usually delights each and every person who sees them; be they Mini owners or not.

This year, the Club is led by President, Nimal Gunaratne, who together with his dynamic committee planned and executed this first event for the Club Year – the International Mini Moke Day Drive – with precision. The Club has planned a colourful line-up of events that will span from now to August 2020.
