Law & Order enforced equally, regardless of wealth, power, title, says JVP Leader
View(s):JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake presidential candidate under National People’s Power, vowed to ensure social justice and Law & Order, is enforced equally, regardless of wealth, power, and title.
Mr Dissanayake contesting under the ‘Compass’ symbol, was addressing his maiden election campaign rally from his birthplace in Thambuththegama. He said their symbol indicates leading the country in a new direction.
Highlights of pledges made by Mr Dissanayake
- When establishing Law & Order, it will be enforced equally, regardless of their wealth, power, and title.
- Our stand is that the executive presidency should be abolished.
- A presidential candidate of a main political party promised to reserve a section of the Ministry of Culture for Astrology. Likewise, superstition has become a political ideology of certain political parties, but what we promise is a country built with our own spirit.
- The farmer in Killinochchi gets a lesser amount for his kilo of paddy, compared with a farmer in Polonnaruwa. We would end the mafia that plunders the farmers. We will implement agricultural policies that will get the farmers an income.
- The utmost attention would be given to the Education of our children. We will create a school network where children need not travel more than 2 km to attend school.
- The health issue in the country is very serious. We will create an environment where our children would get a nutritious meal, so that, they will be very active and robust.
- We will make Laws respecting and identifying characteristics of all Sinhalese, Muslims and Tamils citizens as equal.
