The World Education Fair 2019 – The Seqauel was Good, too. (Working-title)
View(s):Students of Sri Lanka were treated to an unexpected event this year as the World Education Fair was held for the second time this year. Strictly an annual event; this was the 1st time in its 7 year history that the Education Fair was held on multiple occasions in a year.
When asked why the 2nd World Education Fair was held for the year 2019, Suresh Gunasekara, the Director and co-founder of Campus Direct UK (Pvt) Ltd that has been hosting the World Education Fair since 2012 had this to say:
“We decided to hold the World Education Fair again this year because we wanted to give students who couldn’t make it last time the chance to meet the representatives of universities and to get the opportunity to get scholarships and offers that they could have received the last time.”
Held at the Hilton Colombo Residencies, the students were greeted to a layout familiar to anyone that has visited the World Education Fair previously. Representatives of universities around the world gathered to meet with potential students to discuss study opportunities and to clear up any doubts that students or parents would have about studying & living abroad.
The Representatives hailed from universities from Australia, UK, New Zealand, Ireland, Canada, USA, Germany & Grenada. From all the countries: Universities from the UK saw an increased crowd of students. No doubt since the news of the 2 year post study visa was announced to all students who graduate from the 2020/21 intakes onwards. This was a great opportunity for students who are looking to start their careers as soon as they graduate from their courses.
Notable University appearances include Queen’s University Belfast: a Russell Group University, Nottingham Trent University, University of Law, University of Dundee, Dublin Institute of Technology, Dublin City University, Maynooth University and many more from the UK & Ireland; Deakin University, Southern Cross University, Charles Sturt University and more from Australia were there as well. Canadian Universities such as Royal Roads University, University of Canada West and Acsenda School of Management were present as well.
For students looking to study in Australia: Deakin University offered a STEM Scholarship 20%, Southern Cross University offered scholarships ranging from 10% to 15% and Charles Sturt University offered under graduate students 20% scholarships for students who will study in Sydney and Brisbane & scholarships for post graduate students worth AUD 2,000 for students who will study in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
Eligible students looking to study in UK were able to enjoy scholarships from Queen’s University Belfast up to £3,000, University of Bedfordshire up to £2,900, Nottingham Trent University up to £2,000, the University of Law with the International Excellence Scholarship of £3,000 and many more.
The World Education Fair also included a seminar conducted by Mr. Raj Sampath. The seminar was a very enlightened occasion as Mr. Sampath spoke on the advantages and reasons to study in the United Kingdom.
Much like the 1st event this year, students were seen talking excitedly to each other exchanging tips of which University was the best one to visit and showing their friends the different leaflets, brochures and even a few novelty items that they got from the fair.
All in all, the World Education Fair 2018 hosted by Campus Direct UK was a massive success with students getting details on studying and living abroad.
Unlike most agencies, Campus Direct doesn’t charge their students for their services. The services include information, aid in the application and documentation process and help with the visa process thus guaranteeing that their students get the best possible options when looking for study options abroad.
