Nipun Dhananjaya to lead Sri Lanka U-19
Nipun Dhananjaya will lead Sri Lanka Under-19 during the forthcoming Bangladesh tour starting October 26. The national youth team will leave the island on October 23.
Two separate teams approved by the Minister of Sports have been selected with one for the two four-day Youth Test matches and the other for the five Youth ODI matches.
There are several changes in the two sides. The four-day squad includes nine new comers, namely Chamindu Wickramasinghe, Ravindu Rasantham Chihan Kalindu, Dunith Wellalage, Avishka Lakshan, Ruvin Peiris, Amshi de Silva, Avishka Perera and the new bowling sensation Matheesha Pathirana replacing Avishka Tharindu, Mohamad Shamaaz, Navod Paranavithana, Praveen Nimesh, Ashian Daniel, Kamil Mishara, Dilum Sudeera and Roshan Sanjaya.
There are three changes in the ODI squad which represented the Sri Lanka Under-19 at the recently concluded Youth Asian Cup in Sri Lanka. Chihan Kalindu, Dilum Sudeera and Sonal Dinusha have come in place of Ahan Wickramasinghe, Kamil Mishara and Ashain Daniel.
The tour will begin with two four day matches scheduled to with first to be played from October 26 to 29 at ABSS Barisal followed by the second four day from November 2 to 5 at SANS, Khulna.
The first of the five Youth ODIs will be played on November 9 with the second, third, fourth fifth ODIs on November 11, 14, 17 and 19. All these matches will be played at SANS, Khulna.
