Tone & I’s ‘Dance Monkey’ holds on to No: 1 spot
Tone & I’s ‘Dance Monkey’ has held on to the No:1 position on the UK singles chart for a third week with relative ease. The song has had its best week so with 85,000 chart sales and 9.4 million streams. ‘Dance Monkey’ is the debut global hit for the Australian artist Tone & I, who wrote the song under her own name Toni Watson. Also in the spotlight is Konstatin Kerling the German born Australian producer for the winning effort.
Harry Styles’ new song debuts on the UK charts
Harry Styles new song ‘Lights Up’ has debuted on the UK singles chart at No: 3 – the highest entry of the week. The song is Styles second UK top 10 hit after his debut release ‘Sign Of The Times’ which topped the chart in 2017. ‘Lights Up’ is the first single to roll off, what will be Styles second album which is yet to be titled. The song was released simultaneously with the video which helped it speed to its current chart position.
The indie pop track has traces of several genres with the guitar, piano and bass in focus. Meanwhile a Spanish man has been convicted on 21st October at the Hendon Magistrate’s court in London for stalking Harry Styles. Judge Nigel Dean banned Pablo Tarazago- Orera form getting within 250 metres of Styles including his home, business location or concert venue. Orera faces a five year jail sentence if he breached the court order.
Ed Sheeran back on the singles chart
Ed Sheeran is back on the UK singles chart with ‘South Of The Border’, the sixth single from his ‘No: 6 Collaborations Project’ album. Supporting him on vocals are Camila Cabello and Cardi B. Sheeran leads the first part of the song with Cabello coming next including a few Spanish lyrics followed by Cardi B with her rap section. They combine their vocals thereafter on the rest of the track. The song has been certified Silver by the BPI, and has already gone Gold in Australia and New Zealand.
Lewis Capaldi’s ‘Bruises’ at No. 11
Lewis Capaldi’s first single ‘Bruises’ has finally arrived on the UK singles top 10 at No: 11. The song was first released in 2017 independently but did not succeed commercially although it had over 20 million views. He was signed to Virgin thereafter and with ‘Someone You Loved’ gaining the recognition Lewis things began to fall in place for the Scottish musician. On its first official chart run in February ‘Bruises’ peaked at 49 after 14 weeks. On its second chart run the song had a solitary run at 16 and on its current chart run began the journey at 73. In total the ballad has had 20 weeks on the chart and is Capaldi’s fourth UK top 10 hit song.
Mike Posner has completed his epic walk
Mike Posner has completed his epic walk across the US despite having to halt it for a short time after a rattlesnake bite. The ‘I Took A Pill In Ibiza’ hitmaker completed his walk in Venice Beach, California by jumping into the Pacific Ocean on 18th October. Posner began his walk in New York in July. He did the 2851 mile journey inspired by the deaths of his father and the DJ Avicii.
