All schools closed on Nov.15 (Friday)
View(s):All schools countrywide will be closed on November 15 (Friday) for the 2019 presidential election on November 16 (Saturday), the Ministry of Education (MoE) said.
This follows the National Election Commission (NEC) requesting for 23 schools, both national and international schools to be used as polling stations and counting centres.
The schools are, DS Senanayake and Royal College in Colombo, Veyangoda Vidyaloka Vidyalaya, Kalutara North Museaus College, Kandy Model Polgolla, Matale Christ Church National School, Gamini International School Nuwara Eliya, St. Aloysius Vidyalaya Galle, Matara Sujatha Vidyalaya, Hambantota Suchi International School, Jaffna Central College, Batticoloa Hindu College, Srimath John Kotalawela Vidyalaya and Malliyadeva Boys School in Kurunegala, St. Andrew Maha Vidyalaya, Fatima Balika MV and Sheinan Primary School in Puttalam, Anuradhapura Central College, Central MV and Vishaka Balika in Badulla, Moneragala Royal College, Swarna Jayanthi MV and Balika Vidyalaya in Kegalle.
The school authorities will hand over the school premises to the NEC through the Gramasevka Nildhari of the Divisions. - CC
