Namal Thushara - the Best Bodybuilder 2019 of the 70kg category
Namal Thushara Malwaththage from Matale was adjudged the Best Bodybuilder at the 45th National Sports Festival 2019 held recently at Town Hall Badulla. Representing the Central Province team as a member of the Golden Power Gym Matale, he clinched a gold medal for his overall performances in the 70kg category Central Province emerged champions in the body building event bagging four gold medals
Namal Thushara, an old boy of Vijaya College, Matale who took to this game three years back in 2017 has progressed fast in the iron sport winning a silver medal in the 65kg category at the 44th NSF held last year in Polonnaruwa and then the coveted overall title in the 70kg category this year.
He joined the Golden Power Gym, Matale 2017 where he came under the tutelage of Dulanjana Ekanayake. He spotted the potential in Namal Thushara who could take the sport to greater heights in the local body building arena. He owes a lot of gratitude to his coach Dulanjana Ekanayake for the guidance and support given to him to reach this milestone.
