Sasith and Chamodaya adjudged Best Chess Players

Sasith Nipun Piumantha of Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda and Chamodya Yapa Bandra of Girls High School, Kandy was adjudged the Best Players at the All-Island Chess Championship held at the Kurunegala Central College recently.

Piumantha and Bandara stood above the other competitors for their  excellent performances right throughout the competition.

Organised by the Education Department of Sri Lanka over 70 teams participated in the Under-17 and Under-20 Girls and Boys categories. Players were selected on their performances at provincial level tournaments.

Girls High School, Kandy emerged champions in the Girls Under-20 and Under-17 categories while Dharmasoka College clinched the Boys Under-20 championship. Dharmaraja College, Kandy walked away with the Boys Under-17 title.

3. Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo
