Jaywalking, or the act of crossing a street without taking care to avoid hindering the smooth flow of traffic, seems to be a common trait among our fellow citizens.

Despite money and time being spent to demarcate zebra crossings, pedestrian crossings, walk ways and overhead bridges, it has been noted, many pedestrians tend to observe traffic rules in the breach, thus endangering their lives.

From school kids, to university students, to adults travelling to and from work as well as other road users –all of them- cross the roads at will; without regard to road signage or rules put in place for our safety.
