PLA navy ship Zhu Ke Zhen on goodwill visit
View(s):The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) navy ship ‘Zhu Ke Zhen’ arrived at the port of Colombo this week on an official visit, and was ceremonially welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN), in accordance with Naval traditions.
PLA Navy Maritime Surveying Division Deputy Commander Senior Captain Yang Boran and ‘Zhu Ke Zhen’ Commanding Officer called on Western Naval Area Commander Rear Admiral Sumith Weerasinghe, at the Western Naval Command Headquarters, for cordial discussions on matters of mutual interest, and exchanged mementos to mark the occasion, the SLN said.
Defence Attaché of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka, Senior Colonel Xu Jianwei and the ship’s officers were also present at the discussions.
PLA navy ship Zhu Ke Zhen is 129m in length, has a displacement capacity of 4,900 tons, and a crew of 150 Naval personnel. During their six day visit, the ship’s crew is scheduled to participate in several programmes organised by the SLN, before the ship departs to her next port of call on November 19.
