That Christmassy feel with a twist
The Christmas season is nearly upon us and this time around, Soundscope will bring the special joys that Christmas music imparts with their concert ‘Christmas Is Here’ that will take place on Sunday, December 1 from 7 p.m. at the Russian Cultural Centre.
The lineup for the evening includes vocalists Sheaam Dean, Melissa Pereira and Andrea Melisa, Christo Prins on percussion, Shobi Perera on the double bass, Nuran Gomez on the piano, Lydia Goonatilleke on the violin and Tilanka Jayamanne on the flute.
They’ve brought in a group of eight musicians who are aiming to add their own individual twists to the music we all know and love. Soundscope is also striving to let the audience be a part of the music.
Their repertoire for the evening includes favourites like, The Christmas Song (Chestnuts roasting on an open fire), All I Want For Christmas and Baby It’s Cold Outside, interspersed with a series of unique instrumental arrangements.
Sounscope was quick to gain momentum following their charity concert ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone” held in August this year. Encouraged by the impact they made, most of the artists have returned for this second show.
Soundscope founder, flautist Tilanka Jayamanne says that this time both he and his team are taking a step backwards to organize the entire show, without putting much of a strain on the musicians in order to let them focus wholly on their performances.
Tickets are priced at Rs.1500 and Rs. 2000. To get your tickets, contact Shenelle on 076 7853 293 or go to Commons Cafe on Flower Road, Colombo 7.
